The 2013 Summit is a time for progressives across New Hampshire to come together to strengthen the movement, build stronger relationships with those working on the issues you care most about, and learn how to achieve real progressive victories. The experience is profound, but registration is easy.

Buy your tickets here for the 2013 Progressive Summit, held at New England College in Henniker on Saturday, May 4th from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The registration fee of $25 covers full participation in all workshops, plenary sessions with noted speakers, continental breakfast, lunch, coffee and tea, and a post-summit social hour, which includes appetizers, good conversation, and a cash bar.

What's happening at this year's Summit?

Keynote Speaker: Michael McCord

The Execution Channel Join us for a rousing kick-off to the 2013 NH Progressive Summit by keynote speaker Michael McCord, a longtime New Hampshire political reporter and editor. McCord is an award-winning journalist and writer who covered his first N. H. presidential primary in 1980. He is the former business editor, opinion page editor, political editor and author of the infamous 'Out on a Limb' column at the Portsmouth (NH) Herald and now works as a "true writing mercenary". He's written for more than 30 New Hampshire and New England publications including New Hampshire Business Review, Union Leader of New Hampshire, New Hampshire Magazine, Boston Globe, Keene Sentinel, Telegraph of Nashua, Boston Globe Magazine, New Hampshire Fairways, The Goffstown News, and yes, even a small, now-defunct animal publication called Furry Friends Frolic (really). He is willing to bet that no one can top this trivia question: who is the only person to write about animals working on television for Furry Friends Frolic and appear on the PBS News Hour as an expert on the New Hampshire Presidential Primary?

McCord will entertain NH Progressive Summit attendees with stories of his days covering the Tea Party movement in New Hampshire and nationally, an experience which has led him to write the forthcoming political satire "The Execution Channel: A Political Fable". This witty, wicked, and provocative novel takes an imaginative look at what could happen should the current political rhetoric and public policy run amok. Don't miss this keynote!

Panel Debate: Expanded Gambling

One of the single most important, most controversial and least partisan issues in New Hampshire this year is the debate over expanded gambling. Advocates have pressed for it in various forms for decades, with a fair degree of success in the NH Senate. Opponents have fought it in any form for decades, with continual success in the NH House. This year the bill in question is SB152, which would allow a single casino, most likely on the Massachusetts border, with slot machines and table games. We are privileged to have a panel of four highly experienced and knowledgeable speakers to address the issue from both sides: Huck Montgomery, NH Building Trades and State Senator Donna Soucy (Manchester) in support; and Lew Feldstein, Casino Free NH and State Senator Martha Fuller Clark (Portsmouth) in opposition.

Organizing for Action's work didn't end on Election Day. Going forward, Organizing for Action plans to support the legislative agenda Americans voted on, train the next generation of grassroots organizers and leaders, and organize around local issues in our communities. The newly hired state coordinator, Kate Malloy, will be on hand to share more about this next chapter of OFA and what you can expect from this grassroots movement - and how to get involved!

In the body of the email, include your contact information, a brief description of your community involvement (2-3 lines is sufficient), and whether you are requesting a full or partial scholarship.
